Getting Connected with

Alley 19 Bowling

Alley 19 Bowling supports four types of network connections, each listed below. If this is your first time to play (especially over the Internet) we recommend you click "Getting Started" to review instructions on making a successful connection.

Internet Play - Mac Getting Started and Windows Getting Started

To play over the Internet, you must make a direct connection from one computer to the other. This is called a peer-to-peer connection. There are no intermediate hosting servers involved. One person Hosts the game and one or more players Join this game. The computer players who Join, must know the IP address (four numbers separated by dots) of the Hosting player before they can join.Click on one of the links above for Mac or Windows to get detailed information on finding the IP address and making the connection. We do NOT provide any support for this type of play. You are on your own and this kind of play should only be attempted by those who have a good understanding of IP addresses and Internet connections.

Modem-to-Modem Play - Getting Started

Use this method of play to connect to one other person. This is the best method of connecting if both players are within a local phone call of one another. The person joining (waiting) goes first. The hosting (initiating) player then calls the phone number to make the connection. This is the opposite order from the other methods.

AppleTalk Play - Getting Started

Use this method to play over an AppleTalk local area network. Up to four players are supported. If you have two or more computers connected at home or in an office using LocalTalk, Ethernet, or TokenTalk, this is the best method of connection.

Serial Connection Play - Getting Started

Use this method if you have two computers at home and they're connected with a serial cable via the modem or printer ports.
