Windows XP Basics (I)

Classes are offered at the Holiday Inn Express in north Boulder from 6:30pm to 9pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. You may bring you own laptop to follow along, but it is not required. There is wireless, high-speed Internet available. The instructor will be covering material using a projector and a large, 8 foot screen. A handout is distributed to class attendees, reviewing material covered that evening. The basic fee is $75 for the 2.5 hour class. Students between 12 and 21 are half price.

Note: You may re-take the same class one time for "free" if you would like to review the material again. You must re-take the same class within 90 days of the first class for it to be free. Children under 12 are not admitted in consideration of the other attendees.

The Windows XP Basics (I) class is for the those who are new to using Windows XP or those who want to review the basic concepts of using a personal computer and Windows XP.
You may have been using your computer for years, but if you never learned the basics, you'll always have difficulty solving even simple problems on the computer. This class will enable you to use the computer with more confidence, efficiency and solve many of your own computer issues. Perfect for adults and students.

Class material covers:

Turning your computer on & off, sleep mode, & hibernation.
Negotiating folders (Open and Close dialog boxes, where files should be saved/stored).
Copying files from one location to another.
Using the Internet & basic browsing features (google searching, bookmarking, etc.).
Basic e-mail use & concepts including web mail & dedicated e-mail programs (Outlook, Outlook Express & Eudora).
Security issues - avoiding viruses, spyware, and Internet fraud.
How to recover from a computer "freeze".
Basic computer maintenence tips.
How to check for Internet "connectivity" (and how to connect to a wireless network).
Also, learn about free programs that can enhance your computer experience.
